LINKS DONATION

Sycamore Community Band Presents Annual Donation to LINKS

-The Sycamore Community Band led by Pete Metzger presented their 2011 annual donation this year to University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM’s) LINKS, Lonely Instruments for Needy Kids.  LINKS, brings together the desire of young students who want to learn to play an instrument with used instruments that others have no current use for. Through LINKS, you can donate your new or used instrument to a promising young musician who cannot afford to rent or purchase one of their own.

LINKS gathers instruments from throughout the area and then places them with needy children in local elementary, middle and high school bands and orchestras, as well as with students in CCM's Preparatory Department. Qualified students are identified by their school's music teacher, and a LINKS scholarship application is submitted in the student's name. The instrument can be new, used, and even in adequate condition. Buddy Roger's Music generously donates the time to carefully restore, tune and clean each instrument.

The Sycamore Community Band is proud to support such a worthy cause and encourages others to make a tax deductible donation of an instrument that could fulfill a child’s dream of becoming a musician.

Mr. Metzger formed the Sycamore Community Band in 1974 and built the group to a full concert band with sixty-five active adult musicians. The band plays a variety of music consisting of light classical selections, sounds from the Big Band Era, patriotic music, and marches.   For more information            contact Paul Wallace at 513-697-0868.
